The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car the community is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would undoubtedly love to face off behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built personally in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans will obtain the family's standard well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an iconic element of the show. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a series of objectives to earn more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears players will also get rims featuring a television showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a completely new playable area of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
