NFL Recap: Denver Edge Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos clinched a close victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and kicker Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to secure the hard-fought win.
Defensive Display Seals Contest
Despite recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a two-point play in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards throughout the contest.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Offense
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a potential winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
Fields struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets finished with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented after the contest.
