Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will feature once again of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
